Good morning, York. The Eurovision Grand Final is tonight β€” and the UK's entry has a York connection. David Bradley, York-born Game of Thrones and Harry Potter star, has made a remarkable discovery about his own childhood. A York thief broke into a gin shop, stole three bottles of water, then came back four months later to apologise. Lions Kingdom, the York-based exotic meat brand co-founded by a former England rugby player, has just landed its products in every Sainsbury's in the country. Thomas the Tank Engine is heading to the Moors. And it's the first full weekend of the Eboracum Roman Festival.

β˜€οΈ Weather β€” Met Office for York - A decent weekend ahead β€” Saturday 15Β°C, 20% rain; Sunday 15Β°C, 25% rain. Both days are mostly dry. The Bank Holiday weekend of 22–26 May is looking much better β€” early Met Office forecasts point to highs of 23Β°C, the warmest spell of the year so far.

🚨 Travel Alert

🚨 Train disruption today - and Bank Holiday warning - Bank Holiday weekend (23–25 May): Major LNER engineering works between Darlington and York mean southbound services from Scotland and Newcastle will terminate at Darlington or Northallerton β€” not York. Northbound services from London will terminate at York and go no further. Rail replacement coaches operate but journey times will be significantly extended. Plan now β€” these are three of the year's busiest travel days. Check nationalrail.co.uk or lner.co.uk York Press | LNER Travel Updates
