Good morning, York - and what a morning. It is parade day. The Minstermen ride through their city tonight, and thousands of you will be out there to meet them. Before anything else - read both travel alerts below. A burst water main has forced an emergency A64 closure starting at exactly the same time as the bus parade begins. Plan your evening accordingly.

Everything else follows - Dame Judi Dench is coming home, Bootham Ladies are national champions, Aviva's AGM descended into protest, a York-origin LNER train hit a junction at more than twice the speed limit, and a Jewish society sat down to dinner at Clifford's Tower.

β˜€οΈ Weather - Met Office for York - A cloudy start today but clearing through the afternoon to a high of 15Β°C. Only a 10% chance of rain tonight - parade conditions are dry. Bring a layer for standing outside in the evening. The weekend deteriorates sharply: Saturday carries a 65% rain chance, though Sunday and Monday recover. Make the most of tonight.
