The city was ready to line the streets. The open-top bus, the trophy, the roar from the pavements - all of it had been planned, at least in outline, in the frantic and joyful days after Saturday's 103rd-minute winner. Then came the news that the police and council could not support a city centre parade on such short notice. The anger was real and immediate. But York City found another answer by Monday evening - a promotion party at the LNER Community Stadium on Wednesday night. That will do. It will more than do.
