Good morning, York. Wu Yize is the new World Snooker Champion - and a York player knows him personally. The City Walls are closed between Bootham Bar and Monk Bar this morning. Thirty-six affordable homes near Walmgate are set for approval. Police are advising against the Christmas Market rest day, but the council is pressing ahead anyway. HMRC wants you to check your tax code. And York's healthy life expectancy has fallen by more than four years.

A full one. Let's go.

💡
☀️ WeatherMet Office for York - A decent start to the week. Today (Tuesday) is sunny with a high of 14°C and only a 20% chance of rain - the brightest day since the bank holiday. Wednesday and Thursday follow in similar fashion, staying dry with temperatures creeping up. Thursday's high of 14–15°C is particularly welcome news for anyone heading to the York City bus parade. By Friday it's up to 17°C, though a light shower chance returns at the weekend (35% Saturday). Jacket weather still, but spring is properly arriving.
